I recently wrote a series of articles about some of the new capabilities of the Visio desktop and web app.
I will be presenting a webinar on embedding Visio diagram in SharePoint Online and Teams next month, please register here ! (Or if you missed it live, then watch the recording !)
The slides are available at https://www.slideshare.net/bvisual/creating-a-visio-web-part-with-sharepoint-spfx
Some of my colleagues have asked me how I have managed to include Visio files into this public website, so I thought I would share my secret. Microsoft has kindly provided a File Viewer Web Part for use in SharePoint that appears to be useful in other websites too. If you view a Visio file…

Visio Extensibility roadmap from Microsoft Ignite 2018
I like embedding Visio diagrams into SharePoint web pages, but I am not too enamoured with the Shape Info panel and the popup hyperlinks menu because they clutter the diagram surface. Microsoft Ignite 2019 at the huge Orange County Conference Conference Center in Orlando is over for another year. 30,000 attendees over 6 days, and I have seen my first sunlight today since I arrived in Florida last Saturday! So, it is time to review just what was announced about Visio, and how much Visio is appreciated.
The first slot of the day at the furthest away room from the main conference area is not the ideal time to present anything, but those attendees that made it saw how many new features have been added to Visio recently, and what is soon to be added. The session recording should be available soon, but for those who can’t wait, here is a spoiler! ( View the session here )
