“My company Pétanque NXT developed our own process mapping methodology called VizPro over 15 years ago. It is different from the more widely adopted methodologies in that is follows a “storyboard” approach and is visually information rich. For instance, just by looking at a process map, one can tell what the action is, inputs, outputs, who does it, who the other involved role players are, the KPI’s, Controls, communication methods used, etc. We don’t use many words, we use pictures. This is all done in Visio. Our challenge however was that all these “pictures” that tell the story about each process step were not connected. So we could not export and analyse the data. For instance, if we mapped processes for a client and wanted to see where a certain role player is involved in several processes it was a pretty manual job to analyse it. David solved all this for us.
Without changing the visual aspect of our product, he masterly converted our product to one where all the shapes surrounding each process step is connected to the step and can be reported on and analysed fully. And he did this in a record time. The value we now can add to our clients’ processes just increased ten-fold!
